We’re all familiar with the bridal tradition of wearing “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue,” but what does it represent?
The Olde English rhyme outlines four good luck charms the bride carries on her the day of the wedding to bring different fortunes. Something Old represents continuity in marriage, something new is for a bright future, something borrowed is sharing in the happiness from another married couple, and last but not least, the blue symbolizes love and fidelity.
For the brides interested in keeping this tradition alive on her wedding day, we came up with 5 cute ways to seamlessly incorporate “Something Blue” into your ensemble.
1. Blue Opal Jewelry
Blue Opal is the perfect modern twist on the expected sapphire bling. We’re seeing the opal trend all over the Internet, so why not be the first to make it a wedding trend?
2. Blue Ribbon Around Your Bouquet
Finishing your bouquet with a blue ribbon is a delicate way to tie in the tradition!
3. Blue Shoes
A fun approach that not only adds a pop of color but also makes for a great wedding photo! We carry these Badgley Mishka beauties at Lotus Bridal!
4. Nail Color
Pick a light blue color that will look great with your white dress!
5. Blue Garter
Keep your something blue a secret until the Garter Toss, or even until the wedding night 😉 This item is available for sale at Lotus Bridal
On the off chance you haven’t had access to Wifi for two whole days…Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, got married this weekend at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, England! A big congratulations to her and the royal family! As expected, her wedding dress set new bridal goals for all of us. Her classically beautiful lace gown was designed by Giles Deacon.
“I was thrilled to work with Pippa on her wedding dress,” Giles Deacon said, “The dress is constructed with a cap sleeve, high neckline and features a corseted bodice with draping to the front and a heart-shaped detail at the back.”
Let Lotus Bridal help you recreate this look so you can feel like royalty on your big day!
We chose a Le Papillon gown that mimics Pippa’s, not only by the lace overlay, but also in that it has a similar cap sleeve and a natural waistline. What is great about a natural waistline is that it accentuates the smallest part of your body helping you look and feel your thinnest. You can take this ensemble one step further by adding a petticoat under the gown to give you an Aline shape. Pair this dress with a cathedral veil and diamond headpiece and TAH DAH! You got the royal look!
Lotus Bridal has everything you need to complete your vision including accessories, shoes, veils, and bridal party dresses. Call today to schedule your appointment.
